BBU&HSW meeting in April in Wismar

This visit to the German university partner (HSW) was the second opportunity for networking between ENVISAGE partners, with the aim of bringing together BBU representatives (Dr. Gábor Andrási, International Director, Andrea Csathó, Education Development Officer and Attila Bősz, Moodle Support Officer, on behalf of the Training and Development Office, Norbert Süli, IT Specialist, Application Operations Office and Nikoletta Barka, Head of the Sports Office) to get to know each other’s potential and to contribute to the enrichment of their economic, social and societal environment by using the synergy of their intellectual capacities and the balanced development of knowledge spaces.

In the context of training development, the main lessons of the two-day exchange programme on teaching and student support methods were the following:

  • Among the facilities visited on the HSW campus, the ICT studio was of particular interest, as the possibility for trainers to compile and record course material will be introduced in the coming years as part of the methodological innovation needed in the 21st century at BBU. During the meeting, Michael Schleicher, Vice Rector of HSW, presented in detail the teaching and methodological principles of HSW and assured BBU colleagues of their commitment to future collaborations that will support the implementation of BBU’s internationalisation strategy.
  • A meeting was also held with some of the leading trainers of HSW’s outsourced training in Rostock, and BBU colleagues participated in seminars for international students, observing the methodology, the use of tools, and student behaviour and group dynamics.
  • During the visit, the BBU participants also had the opportunity to visit the Maritime Simulation Centre in Warnemünde, which was built for the education and training of maritime personnel (ship officers) and provides an excellent base for research and development.
  • In the field of IT applications, colleagues exchanged experiences on the infrastructure, difficulties and solutions in daily work. The German colleagues gave a briefing on the structure of the departments, teachers’ attitudes towards online education and the impact of the German federal data protection legislation. They described video production to support distance learning, which helps teachers to produce high-quality, up-to-date e-learning materials.
  • To deepen the cooperation in the field of sport, two areas were focused on: people-centred innovation and dedicated services to society and support for development through mass and seamless mobility (physical, virtual or hybrid mobility) of students, faculty and staff. The BBU representative was able to gain a better insight into German university sport life during the visit, and to learn about the academic and competitive system at HSW.

ETDTFA – Education and training development for the treatment of food allergies in the HoReCa sector

Education and training development for the treatment of food allergies in the HoReCa sector

A healthy lifestyle is more and more important since civilizational diseases are spreading continuously. There are a lot of innovative foods and ingredients on the market, but people with a food allergy or intolerance can face a complex problem because they have to avoid these ingredients and need to choose another healthy type of food that can substitute the “normal” nutrient.

We analyse and compare the regulatory environment and good practices and based on this information we elaborate a short cycle course. Our objective is to sensitize our students and external partners to understand the importance and difficulties of a life with food allergy and prepare them to satisfy special consumer needs as long as they work in hospitality and tourism. We apply the developed course material to our existing courses to give our students better chances to appear in the labour market. We will start short cycle courses for the managers and employees of the HoReCa sector the help them in serving the new and increasing needs of food allergies and intolerances.

Outputs:

  • Collection of rules, best practices guide and proposal package
  • Novel, short cycle course development
  • Network development

BBU&ICN meeting in October 2023 in Nancy

BBU representatives from the International Project Office and the Department Responsible for the AACSB Accreditation visited ICN Nancy in October 2023, which was completed with a hybrid institutional visit organising several meetings where BBS colleagues met the representatives of ICN from different departments and units.

The colleagues of BBU from the International Project Office visited ICN Nancy as part of a staff exchange programme. They met the International Relations Department, the responsible staff for international promotion and admission processes at ICN. They also had the opportunity to talk with Krista Finstad-Milion, contact person of ICN in the ENVISAGE Alliance, and talked about the actualities of the proposal re-submission process and of course new project ideas as well.

On 24 October several hybrid meetings were organised at ICN helping the enlargement of the future collaborations between ICN and BBU involving representatives from Doctoral Schools, from departments responsible for international cooperations and collaborations, and international learning and teaching. Emphasised topics were the Administration for Research and Academic services and the Collaborative Online International Learning. ICN as AACSB accredited institution offered support for BBS to the ongoing accreditation process and shared good practices and gave useful advices for the coordination of the AACSB accreditation process at BBU.

KUE – BBU: 29 March 2023 in Budapest

The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation of KUE to meet with the management of the Budapest Business University and to get to know the university, its Faculties, its Doctoral School, the 5 Centres of Excellence, the International Relations and Mobilities Office and the International Project Office of BBU. Meetings were organised about the ongoing and potential new research collaborations, about the common project proposals, about student, teacher and staff exchanges, accreditation issues and double degree programmes.

Important discussions were also held on the ENVISAGE Alliance and its operation, preparing for the next steps in both cases – if the proposal submitted in 2023 is selected for the grant or it is not selected as a winning alliance.

NIBS conference in 2022 in Budapest (BBU, HSW, ICN & ISAG)

NIBS (Network of International Business Schools) conference in 2022 in Budapest with the participation of BBU as NIBS member and HSW, ICN & ISAG from the ENVISAGE partnership

Participating in the 29th NIBS (Network of International Business Schools) Conference hosted at Budapest Business School between 19-22 June 2022 was a truly enriching experience. Participants of the conference got the chance to meaningfully engage in a global network of business schools that focuses on international business. Next to having a great opportunity to network with partner schools and make contribution to the progress of the network. The participants were certainly amazed by the hospitality of Hungarians and the beauty of what the country has to offer. NIBS is certainly a place to be.

As part of the agenda, we had the opportunity to introduce the progress and future plans of ENVISAGE Alliance through a presentation by Prof. Balázs Heidrich, Rector of BBU and a roundtable discussion with the participation of BBU, HSW, ICN and ISAG (former partner of ENVISAGE in the first application).

Connecting to the NIBS conference, partners of the ENVISAGE Alliance organised a partner meeting evaluating the submitted application in 2022 and preparing for the next steps in both cases – as a positive scenario when the proposal is selected for the grant and as a negative one, when it is not selected as a winning alliance – unfortunately it was not selected in 2022.

Day of Hungarian Science conference in 2022 in Budapest

The main topic of the annual Day of Hungarian Sciences conference of Budapest Business University in 2022 was “Beyond Financial Reporting – Sustainability: Integrated Thinking and Integrated Reporting” connected to the fields of the ENVISAGE Alliance, which gave the reason for some of the partners for the participation

During the conference, plenary presentations and sections gave participants the opportunity to explore the current issues of sustainability and the regulatory environment, with a special focus on integrated thinking and reporting. The conference was a great occasion for the dissemination of the INTEREST project’s results led by BBU between 2019 and 2022 and also for an ENVISAGE hybrid partner meeting as well to discuss about the re-submission of the proposal for the 2023 call with the modified partnership (change of the Portuguese partner to UPT instead of ISAG, withdrawal of WUEB from Poland and EUBA from Slovakia).
