FAME – Family Business Sustainability and Growth

Sustainability and growth of family businesses

Our goal was to develop curriculum specialisation (second year of MSc) that is novel and innovative; it also included the reworking of theories available to large companies to family businesses, which were unique at European level and well applicable in the domestic environment (for example, if smaller companies want to merge or become suppliers to multinational companies).

Results:

  • Collating – Collection and systemizing of research results
  • 4 training modules in English (partly face-to-face, partly e-learning)
  • Fundamentals of SME management (Strategy, Marketing, Logistics… )
  • Entrepreneurial finance (From controlling performance to anticipation and management of exit)
  • Corporate Governance, HR, Immigrants’ Integration
  • Transition issues (Psychology of transmission of power, engineering of the process of transition)
  • Work-based learning plan

INSIST – INtergenerational Succession in SMEs’ Transition

Problems of generational change in the management of family businesses.

Preliminary studies by BBU had shown that while theoretical research on generational change was rich in results, few trainings had targeted the field as a priority. It was therefore obvious that the main goal of the project, after the initial comparative research on the partner countries, was to develop a curriculum based on this research, the result of which can help to lead the generational change in terms of both ownership and management transfer. As part of the curriculum, generic change, general strategic, legal and financial, social and cultural, and finally mentoring issues appeared in a modular form.

Results:

  • National reports and case studies (Hungary, Poland and the UK),
  • Comparative report and Recommendation report to decision makers
  • 4 transnational training modules
  • Strategic module
  • Mentoring module
  • Financial and legal module
  • Socio-cultural module
